Babcock

This wine is very succulent, complex and rewarding; and I think, at least to some degree, it's a sign of Pinot Noir vines that are now fully mature in our vineyards. The nose and mouth are full of cherries and spice, which have become a very welcome standard. It is a less intense, easy to drink version of some of the trophy, estate Pinots we have made. But it still has the kind of character that has prompted many growers over the last few years in the Sta. Rita Hills to plant more grapes.

Wine Enthusiast

A lighter style of Pinot Noir, but lovely for drinking now. It has flavors of tea, cola, strawberry jam and dusty spices, and is dry and silky. Fresh and easy, at a good price.

Score: 87. —Steve Heimoff, October 01, 2011.

Wine Spectator

Tilts toward the herb-rhubarb side of Pinot, firm and spicy, with modest tannins and a dash of tobacco on the finish. Drink now through 2017. 6,295 cases made.

Score: 86. —James Laube, 2012.
