Merryvale

Our '07 Napa Valley Merlot shows aromas of plum and brambly blackberry along with vanilla, dark chocolate, baking spices and roasted sage. The mouthfeel is broad and lingering into the finish.

Wine Advocate

An impressive sleeper of the vintage, the 2007 Merlot is a blend of 75% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a big, sweet kiss of charcoal, black currants, black cherries, coffee, mocha, spice box, licorice, and a hint of cocoa. Pure, dense, medium to full-bodied, lush, and seductive, this stunning Merlot should continue to drink well for 12-15 years.

Score: 91. —Robert Parker, December 2009.

Wine Enthusiast

A dry, gentle Merlot, likeable for its rich tannic structure and complex flavors. Shows berry, cherry, currant, dark chocolate and sandalwood flavors, with a clean, spicy finish. Drink now with a nice grilled steak, brushed with garlic butter and plenty of pepper.

Score: 88. —Steve Heimoff, December 01, 2010.

Wine Spectator

Tight and lean, with currant and tomato leaf notes and dry, chewy tannins. Drink now through 2014. 3,794 cases made.

Score: 80. —Tim Fish, 2010.
